To minor in Economics you must complete 18 hours of economics courses, including ECO 105. MAT 121 or 145 may be, but are not required to be, used for 4 hours of credit toward the minor. In addition, ECO 138 or GEO/POL/PSY 138 or MQM 100 can also be used for 3 hours of credit toward the minor. However, ECO 103 may NOT be counted toward the minor. Finally, students are strongly discouraged from attempting to take either ECO 240 or ECO 241 as part of their minor plan of study. All 200-level economics electives count toward the Economics minor.
Students wishing to apply for admission to the Economics major or minor must submit their application online through My Illinois State. We no longer accept paper applications.
Students will be admitted to the Economics minor from a pool of qualified applicants on the basis of individual qualifications. The number of students admitted may vary from year to year depending on program capacity and qualifications of students in the pool. The Department of Economics reserves the right to maintain a balanced enrollment.
