We've created some online forms to expedite the process of handling student requests. Use the links below to request an update in your plan of study, to ask for a course override, or to get information about our program (including our classes and course registration). Just login with your ULID and password, and you'll need to have your UID handy. Thanks for visiting!
Economics majors and minors are expected to keep track of the Progress to Degree in iCampus. Whenever you check this information and you do not see economics classes you believe should be in your plan, simply fill out this online form and your plan of study will be updated as soon as possible. Please note that any time you take a course and you want it to apply to the major or minor, you must submit a plan of study update request.
Students who plan to enrol in the ECO300 (the Senior Capstone Project) should first select the 300-level elective (3 hour course). Next, fill out this online form and provide the course number of that 3xx elective. You will then receive an override into the appropriate section, and each student must then register for ECO300 (1 hour Capstone). Simply processing the override does not enrol you in the course.
Students wishing to obtain an override into an Economics course must submit this online override request form, and you must provide the reason an override is sought. The most common reasons for requesting an override are 1) the course is major-blocked and you are not a major, 2) you do not have the pre-reqs, and 3) the class is full. Our intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics courses are major blocked, but we may allow an override for a promising student who has earned strong grades in other economics classes and who plans to apply to the Economics major. We do not provide overrides for students who do not have the pre-reqs for a course--this is to ensure your success! Also, most of our classes (e.g., 200-level electives) are housed in classrooms which cannot accommodate any more than the maximum number of students.
We do not provide overrides for ECO105 and ECO138, as these classes are generally in high demand. Every sememster sees a fair amount of dropping and adding into these classes, so we suggest that any student wanting to take either class should keep checking iCampus and there is a very good chance a seat will open up during the first week of the semester.
Finally, the Economics program cannot issue overrides for courses in other departments, such as mathematics requirements, courses for the CAS foreign language requirement, and general education classes. To obtain an override from another department, contact that department.
Students will NOT be given an override to enroll for a third time in any of the core courses in the major.
If your question is about adding courses to your plan of study or if you are requesting an override, please use the appropriate online form, as listed above. Also, check our FAQ page to see if your question is answered there. Any other inquiries about our program (including our classes, registration into Economics courses, and your progress to an Economics degree) should be sent through this general online form.
